Thank you to all parents, carers and family members who attended our Harvest Celebrations Assemblies. The children performed wonderful songs and poems as well as presenting their own work. Thank you also for the contributions of food and home-grown fruits and vegetables. We have received a lovely letter from the Consett Foodbank:
Pedestrian Training Award
Congratulations to all the Year 3 children for completing their pedestrian training.
DNA Class Lesson
Today, Year 6 children enjoyed a wonderful and very informative visit from Ms Louise Allcroft, CEO of Complement Genomics, who spent the afternoon talking about genetics, they even got to see and handle samples of DNA. They asked a variety of very thoughtful questions and I’m proud to say their involvement and behaviour was outstanding. Be sure to ask them at home what they’ve learnt !
OASES Illuminating Waste
OASES (Outdoor and Sustainability Education Specialists) visited Upper school today to undertake an assembly with all Keystage 2 pupils on Illuminating Waste. Following this they worked with our Year 5 pupils on managing, controlling and minimising the waste we produce at school and at home. It was great to see all the children engage so enthusiastically and take part with such a responsible attitude. This work will continue with the school Eco Group who have selected to make waste management part of their work this academic year.
Welcome
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to the website of Leadgate Primary School.
On behalf of all staff and governors I would like to welcome you to Leadgate Primary School. We are a small primary in the centre of Leadgate village, County Durham. We became a primary school in April 2015 following the amalgamation of the Infant and Nursery School with the Junior School.
At Leadgate we aim to give every child the best start possible to their education. The Early Years are crucial to a child’s development and our Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 enable the children to get their school careers off to a flying start.
Throughout the school we want all our children to enjoy a wide range of experiences which bring the curriculum to life, learning fun and make lasting memories to build upon. All our staff work hard to ensure the best possible quality of education for the children in every year group.
Our website aims to give you a taster of what Leadgate is all about along with a range of useful information. You will also find copies of our weekly newsletters for each Key Stage which let parents know what their children are learning about and experiencing in school, along with curriculum plans and curriculum letters so you know what you can help your child with.
I hope you find it useful, please do not hesitate to contact the school if you require further information.
Mr Mark A. Watson
