Year 3

Welcome to Year 3

In Year 3, the class teacher is Mrs Hannon. This marks the beginning of Key Stage 2 and the children’s first year in Upper School—an important step in their learning journey. As children start Key Stage 2, we place great emphasis on emotional well-being, supporting pupils as they navigate changes in friendships and relationships. We continue to build on the strong foundations established in Key Stage 1, ensuring children have secure core skills that can be developed further as they progress through Key Stage 2. We aim to equip children with the skills to manage change confidently as they grow older. Learning in Year 3 follows a thematic approach, building on prior learning and making natural links between subjects to create meaningful connections, while some lessons are taught discretely where appropriate. This approach helps children revisit and reinforce key concepts, deepening their understanding and helping them to remember more.

Our Curriculum

Children continue to follow a thematic approach to learning, ensuring frequent opportunities to revisit and reinforce key concepts. This approach helps deepen understanding and build strong connections across subjects.
