Wider School Reopening News / Plans

8th June 2020 By markwatson

Following a meeting of the Governing Body on Friday 5 June, a decision was reached to begin the wider reopening of school to two year groups only, Reception and Year 6. A provisional date has been set for the opening of school to Year 1 pupils on the 29th June, however, this will depend greatly on the uptake of places for Reception and Year 6. Below are letters detailing how this will run along with plans, instructions and  important information on how this will be managed.

Please note that as the wider reopening begins (from the 15th June) we will only be able to offer provision for 4 days a week (Monday – Thursday) including key worker childcare starting from Monday 15th June.

School will remain closed to all pupils every Friday.

If you have already made your class teacher aware that you wish you child to return to one of these year groups, they will be in touch with you this week to confirm your place and discuss which bubble and staff you child has been allocated against. At present, we have allocated all places to those pupils identified. Children who have not been allocated a place will not be able to attend until arrangements are in place to open up further groups and staffing is in place to meet this need.

Parent Protocol

Updated Parent Protocol – following an update in Government guidance on the creation of Support Bubbles our Parent protocol has been updated

Please go through the pictures below with your child to talk about how school will look and be different should they return.

These red markings show where you and your adult can stand so that you keep 2 metres apart when coming into school.
These floor markings show where to drop off in the morning if you come in through this door – its shows 2 metres distance
You will see red floor markings around the outside of the building – these help to show where people can and shouldn’t go – don’t worry they are mostly for the adults to use

These red floor marking show adults which way to go out once they have dropped you off.
There are even markings on the grass – these show the adults which way they must go when they leave school after dropping children.
You’ll see a one way system in school – always walk on the left and follow the arrows – this will help you ensure you don’t bump into any one else

Much is still the same but you can see that items have already been cleared off all the table tops – the sand and water pits are empty – before you come in some more of these items and shelves will have been cleared away
Here you can see that most things have already been cleared away and there is no sand or water or play dough
Some rooms have had all their resources removed to make space for children – keeping everything clear and clean

Child care provision is now in the sure start building and has been clear of all unnecessary resources – don’t worry if you come across empty spaces – they are just clear and clean
Reception outdoors has now been divided in two to make a separate outdoor space for Childcare provision without groups – ‘Bubbles’ overlapping
Here is a picture of a newly organised year 1 class – tables are set in rows 2 metres apart and the yellow tape shows the adults where to keep the tables so everyone has plenty of space

Individual Zip Bag full of your own resources – no need to share anymore
Even the teachers need to keep their spaces clean and clear – and here is part of the staff room with all papers and materials / resources tidied away. But your teachers will spend most of their time in class with you.
Our original year 6 room has been changed to allow for social distancing and so that each child has all the equipment they need.

This picture shows the Year 6 ICT Room Bubble – each child has their own desk and resource pack
Some year 6 children will be moving into the ICT room to have their own bubble – each child will have an individual pack of resources to use.
Keeping socially distant even when lining up is important inside and out.
